Travel the world with confidence, independence, and curiosity
Real travel advice from a blind traveler exploring the globe with his guide dog Fauna.
Blind Travels is where I share the real side of accessible travel, the helpful parts, the awkward parts, the funny parts, and the parts nobody seems to mention until you are already standing in an airport while someone points vaguely into the distance and calls that assistance.
If you are blind or low vision, traveling with a guide dog, supporting someone who is, or working in hospitality and trying to get accessibility right, you are in the right place.
This site is built from lived experience, not theory. Everything here is meant to help you travel smarter, plan better, and feel more confident before you ever leave home.
As Seen In
Blind Travels has been featured by Hadley School for the Blind Travel Talk, Access Media Inc. Kelly and Company, Travel Massive, Colorado Traveler, 303 Magazine, 5280 Magazine, and Accessible Journeys Magazine, along with many travel podcasts and radio shows in the United States and Canada.
That matters, because trust matters when you are planning a trip and trying to decide whose advice is actually worth following.
Afluencer
Ted was recently named #14 of the top 35 social media influencers over 50 by Afluencer. from their website: “A glance at his Instagram feed confirms this fact. His photography skills are off the charts! The images he captures aren’t just good, they evoke emotion. Look out for his guide dog, Fauna, who makes regular appearances throughout his feed. ” You can read the article here.

Meet Ted and Fauna
I’m Ted Tahquechi, a photographer, traveler, accessibility advocate, and a guy who learned that losing vision does not mean losing adventure.
After the accident that took almost all of my sight, I found that real travel resources for blind and low vision travelers were surprisingly thin. So I built the kind of site I wish I had when I was figuring this all out myself, one that talks honestly about airports, hotels, cruises, destinations, travel gear, guide dogs, and all the small choices that can make a trip easier or much, much dumber.
Fauna is my guide dog, trusted travel partner, and very likely the senior professional in this operation.

Why Blind Travels Exists
Blind Travels was built because the travel world is still too often explained from a fully sighted point of view.
That leaves out a lot.
It leaves out the stress of getting turned around in a giant terminal. It leaves out the importance of clear verbal directions. It leaves out how much room location matters in a hotel. It leaves out the logistics of traveling with a guide dog. It leaves out how powerful the right technology can be when you are trying to move independently through the world.
This site exists to fill that gap with practical advice, firsthand reviews, and honest stories from someone who actually lives it.
There are no paywalls here, no hidden members-only vault, and no “unlock the good advice for $19.99 a month” nonsense. This site exists to help blind and low vision travelers explore with more confidence and more useful information.
Social Proof and Community
Blind Travels was also recognized by Afluencer, where I was listed among the top 35 social media influencers over 50.
That was a nice reminder that showing up consistently, sharing real experience, and refusing to sand off the truth still matters.
Blind Travels is part of a larger conversation around accessibility, travel, guide dog life, and independent exploration. If you enjoy the site, come follow along on social and say hello.
